About Us
steakbroker.com was started with one goal, to help cattle producers sell their products directly to consumers. Having grown up in rural Wyoming, I watched my family, friends, and neighbors raise cattle my whole life. So when I saw them, and everyone else in the cattle industry struggling to bring their product to market, I saw an opportunity. The idea for a website to sell beef shares came to fruition when Wyoming passed an expansion on the Food Freedom Act that specified that there was no limit to the number of shares for a cow that can be sold. As long as a consumer owns a fraction of the animal before it is slaughtered, they can have it butchered by anyone they and the producer agree on.
The goal is to continue to improve steakbroker.com through user feedback so that producers can eventually sell smaller shares of cows and reduce the amount consumers are required to buy with each transaction. But websites cost money, so this is the reason we charge producers to post animals for sale. Every animal sold on steakbroker.com helps contribute to improving the market for ranchers and lowering costs for consumers.
